How to make the comparison useful
Start with a source-and-output checklist
Write down the URLs you actually use and whether the final transcript goes into a document or a video editor. If YouTube or Facebook links are essential, ShortTranscript is not a complete substitute for that workflow. For TikTok and Reels, check that the correct public video resolves before assessing the transcript itself.
Test the words you need to reuse
Use an authorized clip with a clear speaker, one name and a number. Compare those details with the original recording, then make an edit and inspect the downloaded file. Background music or distant voices can make recognition unreliable. This page does not rank either service by accuracy or repeat unverified processing-time claims.
Keep caption timing and document editing separate
SRT and VTT carry timed text for players and editors. DOCX is useful when the next step is a written brief, interview notes or a quotation review. Choose the format for that destination, and check which downloads are included in the free tier before committing to a paid workflow.
THE COST OF YOUR NEXT TRANSCRIPT
Compare billing before buying
GetTheScript describes free access and premium plans, but we could not verify a numerical free quota or paid price on its public homepage. Ask for its current limits before comparing costs. ShortTranscript’s available packs are shown below and on the pricing page.
All ShortTranscript limits and prices ↗Free: 3 successful transcripts per UTC day, up to 5 minutes each, subject to trial availability. Edit, copy and TXT without sign-up.
1 credit per started minute. Credits expire after 12 months; no auto-renewal. SRT, VTT and DOCX require credits. Failed transcripts do not consume a successful free attempt or transcript credits.
GetTheScript alternative FAQ
Does ShortTranscript support GetTheScript’s YouTube and Facebook links?
No. Direct links currently support TikTok and public Instagram Reels/video posts. You may upload a supported media file you are authorized to use, but that does not add support for other platforms’ URLs.
Is GetTheScript cheaper or more accurate?
We have not established that. A current paid price and numerical free quota were not verified on its public homepage, and we have no controlled comparative accuracy benchmark. Check current terms and test the same authorized clip.
Try the clip you actually need.
Use a public video you are authorized to process. Check names, numbers and quotations against its audio, then edit the segments before exporting.
